Yanking on an electrical cord can also damage the outlet especially if the switch is still on. On the flip side of removing a cord you should also make sure it’s inserted completely. When it’s halfway in it can cause an electrical shock in some cases.
4. Avoid overloaded outlet. As convenient as it may be to have all your gadgets plugged into the same outlet, it can be dangerous. The outlet will become overloaded at some point especially if it’s being used by appliances that use a lot of power. You should use an extension cord so the electricity will be evenly distributed without tripping.
5. Baby proof electrical cords. Children are curious and very unpredictable. They love to figure out how things work and might do it by sticking a pencil on a socket. Just one look away and your children can be involved in a dangerous incident with electricity. You need to make sure your home is safe. Extension cords need to be hidden and outlets need to have safety plugs.
